  Scanning Your Pictures
A common way to get pictures into the software is to use a scanner. Most scanners are Twain-compatible, but some are not. You can determine this by looking at the literature provided with the scanner. This information should be easy to find. After you install your scanner according to the directions that came with it, follow the steps below:

To use a Twain-compatible scanner:

  1. Take the photograph or find the picture you want to use.
  2. Open Imagine Pro.
  3. Click the Scan icon on the toolbar or go to Open from Scanner/Camera on the File menu.
  4. Select your scanner as the source.
  5. Refer to your scanner user's manual to proceed with the scanning process.
  6. Your scanning software is where you'll affect the size of your image (not in Imagine). Some experimentation may be required to get your image the proper size but two factors most impact the size of your scanned image:
  • DPI (Dots Per Inch) - Houses should be scanned at 100           dpi for best results. Anything higher usually results in an image larger than your screen and will be memory intensive.
  • Scaling/Sizing - Depending on the size of your monitor,       choose the size of your image. Try using 4½" inches high x 7½" wide (or 300 x 500 pixels) to start off.
  1. When you've finished scanning, the image appears on the screen as a new project. At this point, you have the option to save the image before you begin work so that you have the scanned file to use again. You might want to use the image file on another project or you might want a back-up copy if you want to start over. For directions on saving the image file, click here.
  2. You are now ready to work on the image.
  3. After you have done a little designing on the scanned image in Imagine, you will want to save your work, especially if you didn't save in step 7.

Using Photos from a Kodak CD

Launch Kodak Picture Disk by double clicking on the icon.
  1. Place your Photo CD in your CD-Rom drive Go to the File menu and select Import. When the import dialogue box appears, select the drive where your CD-ROM drive is located. The list of files on the CD will appear in the file name list to the left of the screen. If they do not appear you may have to open the folders in the folders window by double clicking the folders.

  2. Select the picture(s) you want to export by single clicking on the picture(s). The picture should be outlined in red.

  3. Go to the File menu and click Export or you can click the icon Export-Save Picture as Image file (this is the 3rd icon from the right).

  4. An export dialog box will appear, give your file a name using up to 8 characters.

  5. Under Save File as Type, click the drop down arrow to the right and select the file format TIFF file (*.tif).

Note: You can save these files directly into the Imagine Pro 7.0 software you have purchased. You would need to save them directly to the Gallery directory.

  1. To save to the Gallery directory, change the drive to C:\. In the folder window, double click on C:\. The files on your hard drive will show.

  2. Scroll to the VA Imagine Pro 7 directory and double click on the VA Imagine Pro 7 directory. Then double click on the gallery directory.

  3. The demo files for Imagine™ will appear in the file window. Then click OK. This image is now saved in the Imagine™ gallery directory!

  4. Repeat these step for all of the images you wish to use in the Imagine program.

To Import the Images Saved in Imagine Pro 7.0

  • Launch the Imagine Pro 7.0™ software.

  • Go to the File menu and Select Import. Your files will appear in the file list window. Single click on the file you wish to open to preview the image. Click OK to bring the image into Imagine (If your files do not automatically show up, double click on the Gallery directory.

  Text Appears in Hieroglyphics

The problem that you are experiencing is that the Monotype Sorts font on your computer is making the text in the program appear in hieroglyphics. This font is not used for any Windows based program and need to be moved to not cause interference with the program.
  1. From the Start button, select Find. Then select find file or folders.
  2. Make sure that you can see your desktop on a part of your screen after the Find screen come up.
  3. In the Named field type "Monotype Sort". Make sure that the field "Look In" is looking at your hard drive (usually the C drive).
  4. This file will come up as a true type font. When it is found click the file and drag it out to the desktop. This will make the file inactive and it should not conflict with the program.
  5. Re-Install the program. You do not need to delete what you have already installed. Install into the same directory and all should be fine.

I have had one person who had an anti virus program running also. Make sure that all programs are closed before installing. If you do have an anti virus and did not disable it before installing, please do the following:

  1. Delete the VA Imagine Pro 7 directory in the C:\ drive. Highlight the directory and press the delete key on your keyboard. Re Install the program.

  Deleting & Reinstalling Your Software

Locate the "My Computer" icon in the upper left corner of the screen.

First we need to clean your computer from the various installations you mentioned you have done.  If none of them were correct then it will make it very difficult to install again.  So lets clean you system so we can install with little effort.

Step 1

Go to Start, choose Control Panel, then choose Add or Remove Programs.

Double click on the icon next to "Add or Remove Programs"

Scroll down and look for the purple puzzle piece icon with the program name called Imagine Pro 7 program (Exterior), (Landscape) or (Interior) Highlight that program, then click the Change/Remove box located to the right of the program name.

Next, once you have clicked the "Change/Remove button a new dialog box appears, which says in Bold "Select Uninstall Method".  Choose "Automatic". And click "next'

The next dialog box asks if you would like to perform a rollback.  Click "yes". Then click "next."

Now click "Finish".

A dialog box again appears which asks if you want to remove shared components, click "Yes to all".

Once this has finished, you should not see Imagine Pro 7 in this list of software programs.

Now lets download the file again......instead of using the CD-ROM back-up to install it-lets install from the download.

Go back to the download file you save on your computer.

We urge users to use an unzipping software when they download the file.  As you may have realized it is 191MB large.  It is nearly impossible for you to download all those files without it being “wrapped” properly.  This wrapping program allows the entire file to be downloaded with no errors or problems.  Once it arrives on your desk top normally you would double click on the file – your unzipping software would open it would find the file and unzip and install the software for you. It is a flawless operation.  However, In this case you do not have unzipping software so there are a couple options -choose the easiest for you.

•     Option 1

Download the free evaluation version of winzip located at http://www.winzip.com/downwzeval.htm  select the red button that says “Try Winzip 10.0” download the software, then allow winzip to find Zip_Exterior.zip file for you.  Let it unzip and then install the program.  Once it is installed and completed you can run the software from your hard drive.  The error message you are receiving means it was not installed correctly. You can also go to the web site FAQ and get the same answers.   http://www.visapp.com/FAQ.htm click the first link.

•     Option 2

Go to the new downloaded zipped file which is located in your "download" folder. It is called zip_Exterior.zip, zip_landscape.zip or zip_interior.zip right click on it and select “Extract All”  you should have a dialog box for the Windows extraction wizard click next, select a location to install the program to (we suggest it go onto your C or main drive), then select next, the extraction process will occur, then Click “show extracted file’ and finish.

The folder will open with all the files that were in the zipped file you downloaded.  Now inside this new folder with the extracted files you will find a file called “setup” double click the setup file, next you will be asked if you would like to “run” the common installation process, say "Run" then the normal process will occur again.  Make sure you are installing your software on the proper C drive. This time the program is actually installing onto your hard drive. Click Next, Agree, Next, Next etc until you are finished.

Register your program.

  Database Objects Turns Black

Items dragged into the project from the database strip appear as solid black silhouettes, outline tools fill the outlined area with a solid color.

Solution: This situation is created by an older version of the file LEADDIB.DRV on your system. To fix this, you will need to find this file in your Windows\System sub-folder and rename it to LEADDIB.OLD. This will keep Windows from finding the older file when it starts up, and use the newer version in our directory.

When you start your software now, it will automatically use the newer copy that comes with our software.
